According to this article in the Denver Post, which is additional coverage of a report recently submitted by Coldwell Banker, the Denver High End Market is fairing much better than the standard home market. However, according to this article, one of the main reasons is prices have dropped, sometimes by 50%. This is igniting the increase of number of sales, but lowering the average price. I guess it is pretty easy to assume there was a lot of fluff in the pricing before.
