Recession Takes Toll On Already Suffering Golf Courses

Here is a very interesting article in USA Today about the decline of Golf Memberships and the fall of many great courses. Perhaps we finally reached the saturation point in the industry and people started to realize that $200 plus per round was beyond ridiculous. According to this article, there are now many deals to be had out there and any avid golfer can play many courses for the price they used to pay to play one or two.

Steamboat High End Home Sales Surge

According to this article, there has been a significant increase in sales activity for homes at $1 million or more in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Apparently, like many other locations, there are many deals to be had at that price point and up, which is resulting in the increase of sales there vs. some of the lower priced properties. Perhaps the most impressive part of this is the sales of these homes represents 32 percent of all single family homes sold in Steamboat this year. That is a much higher percentage of the total than this area is used to seeing.

There are still many homes on the market in this beautiful Colorado Ski Town, so if you know of anyone interested, send them up.

Another Market Reporting Sharp Increase In Sales of Luxury Homes

This time it is Charleston, SC that is reporting a significant uptick in sales for the first 6 months of this year vs. the same time frame last year. In fact, one area; that being the area below the Crosstown Expressway saw a huge jump in number of sales with 42 of them changing hands this year, while only 13 did the same last year. Most of this activity can be attributed to the increase in potential buyers who are starting to surface again. But there are many who argue the only reason for that is because prices have fallen and there are bargains out there to be had.
